I have been working with this patient for three years, she was originally fit with one hearing aid. She was always afraid to try two because the numbness in her left hand. She was having typical trouble like what directions sounds were coming from and understanding the precher at church and of coarse her friends. She was feeling like she was becoming more isolated and didn't want to participate in any activities.
In my opinion this consumer has not had the whole "hearing aid" concept from start to finish explained to him/her. What I explain to my patients is that a hearing instrument is an "aid" to help you hear better, but not like your normal God-given ears.
