Hearing loop news

I continue to be encouraged by the spreading interest in making assistive listening telecoil-compatible.  The hearing loop manufacturers seem to be increasingly busy with demand for their products and services.  Major new installations are underway (NYC Transit subway information booths) or recently comleted (12,200 seats of Michigan State University's basketball and special events arena).  And publications continue to appear, including the just-published Sound and Communications which goes to some 20,000 audio/AV contractors.

3D Ear Scanning may soon be a reality

Lantos Technologies, Inc. today announced it has closed on $1.6 million in a Series A financing. Catalyst Health Ventures led the round, which was joined by additional investors Excel Venture Management and Mass Medical Angels. Lantos' novel 3D imaging technology provides fast, accurate and minimally invasive digital mapping of the human ear canal, enabling the development of comfortable, custom fit audio devices such as hearing aids, earphones and noise-canceling devices.
