The Institute also conducts and supports research and research training related to disease prevention and health promotion; addresses special biomedical and behavioral problems associated with people who have communication impairments or disorders; and supports efforts to create devices which substitute for lost and impaired sensory and communication function. NIDCD public education activities include: providing reports of breaking science and health information, developing science education materials to improve health and science education opportunities for children and teachers from K-12, and building and supporting coalitions and public education campaigns around disease prevention and health promotion.
