Better Hearing Institute Unveils New Website
ALEXANDRIA, VA (January 25, 2005) — The Better Hearing Institute (BHI) today unveiled
its new website, a key element of its commitment to educate the 30 million
people with hearing loss in the United States. The site features hundreds
of pages of information and guidance for people with hearing losses, their
families, their physicians, their employers and friends, and also incorporates
a brand new BHI publication, Your Guide to Better Hearing, available on
the site through a PDF download.
The new BHI website contains some unique features, in addition to the booklet,
that include: a 15 question hearing check that is computer scored and normed
to adults (ages 55+) with self-admitted hearing losses & recommends
1 of 5 courses of action depending on the test score; a comprehensive database
of celebrities that have supported the association; a database of resources
for people with hearing loss; relevant articles available for download and
a database of factoids and quotes on hearing, ears & listening.
Over the past three years BHI has focused primarily on physician education.
The success of this effort was highlighted in the August 2004 Hearing Journal.
Sergei Kochkin, Ph.D., Executive Director indicated that “with more
than 2,000 hearing health practitioners participating in physician outreach
using the BHI program, it is now time to shift BHI’s focus to educating
the public about hearing loss and available hearing loss solutions.”
With the building blocks in place and its mission and objectives clarified
Kochkin indicated that the Better Hearing Institute is now positioned to
embark on public relations initiatives designed to motivate people with
hearing loss to seek a hearing solution earlier rather than later in their
life. Newly-elected BHI President Stephan Sagolla stated, “With the
basics behind us, BHI is eager to initiate creative marketing communications
designed to introduce America’s 30 million people with hearing loss
to the joys of better hearing”.
