HEARING HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS

Physician Referral Development Program (PRDP)
More than 2,400 hearing healthcare professionals are now part of our physician referral
program. A key element of the BHI Physician Program is the use of the local hearing
professional as the "messenger" to primary care physicians. Our message
is of little value until the family physician comes to know and trust a local
audiologist or hearing aid specialist who can care for his patients. We have
designed this program to rely completely on those local hearing professionals (and
supported by national PSAs in medical magazines). BHI places materials in the
hands of the hearing professionals enrolled in our program and the hearing professionals
deliver the materials to the family physicians they target. When a relationship
is formed between the physician and the hearing professional, then patients with
hearing loss can get the care they need. Our research on 800 practices over a 3 year
period indicated that on average dispensers receive at least one referral resulting
in an incremental hearing aid sale per month; that’s a 170 to 1 return on investment.
Celebrity Outreach Program

 |
Share your famous celebrities with BHI and reap the rewards of FREE BHI
outreach materials and public relations for your practice!!
For more than 30 years, well-known Americans who have personal experience with hearing loss have stepped forward
to help the Better Hearing Institute battle the stigma associated with hearing loss (see our
Celebrity Circle for active celebrities).
Our celebrities have included Presidents, first ladies, politicians, entrepreneurs, athletes, movie stars,
Miss America, and entertainers. When people with hearing loss hear real life stories of noteworthy Americans
who have addressed this problem, it often inspires and motivates them to overcome their embarrassment and get
help from a hearing professional. Won’t you help us in our war on stigma by recruiting your famous
patients to serve as spokespeople for the Better Hearing Institute?

Local Public Relations Tools for Hearing Healthcare Professionals
As a means of coordinating local public relations efforts with National BHI initiatives we will be developing tools, outreach
flyers, physician and patient presentations, scripted speeches, sample advertisements and training videos. Hearing healthcare
professionals are welcome to download these tools at no charge and to use them without the permission of BHI.

healthcare professionals.
Peer Mentoring Program (Success Stories)
Share your success stories with BHI and reap the rewards of FREE BHI outreach materials and possible public relations for
your practice!!
If you have a patient with hearing loss who has successfully received treatment (e.g.
hearing aids, surgery, medical care, cochlear implants, assistive listening devices,
etc.) we want to hear from you. When people with hearing loss hear real life stories
of average Americans who have addressed their hearing loss successfully, it often inspires
and motivates them to overcome their embarrassment and get help from a hearing professional. Some
referred patients may also have the contacts that we need to reach out to entire professions
(e.g. lawyers, teachers, executives, bankers, farmers etc).
